Access Narrative provides online peer-to-peer support for writers rooted in accessibility.

Sessions are facilitated by Ennis Welbourne (they/them), a marginalised writer who uses their lived experience to help cultivate safer spaces for writers to access community and support.

Upcoming Sessions

Starting with Fragments led by Ennis Welbourne

A 90 minute guided writing session reflecting on fragmented creative ideas.

This session is an invitation to take part in three guided writing exercises exploring the often fragmented nature of new ideas. How might we validate new ideas when they seem fragmented? When they don’t form a clear narrative shape, split our focus into multiple projects, and express themselves in different creative forms?

What to expect?

Ennis will be sharing some personal examples from their creative journey, then provide prompt questions to inspire reflective writing on our own creative experiences. We will then have an opportunity to reflect as a group on the session material and share our thoughts.

There are 20 minutes allocated to each of the three exercises. Each exercise will contain time for Ennis to share their personal example, the prompt question, and for our private writing time. After this first hour, we will have a 10 minute break, then return for 20 minutes of discussion time.

An assortment of stationary will be provided, including; coloured ballpoint pens, felt tips, lined and plain white paper, pastel coloured paper, sticky note pads and plastic wallets.

All activities are optional. Suitable for all experience levels.

All of our workshops are open to CSA survivors, friends and allies, aged 18+

Chronically Ch(ILL) Session 6

Online | Sunday 27 April 2025 6-7:30pm | Free | Full Listing

This session is an invitation to take part in a guided writing exercise exploring the therapeutic tool of Pendulation. We will gently welcome emotion, sensation and memory, using the page to describe and hold a moment of distress or discomfort. We will then shift our attention to something that brings us ease or neutrality. This fluid movement between internal states can aid in the regulation of our nervous systems, and help us shift out of cycles of rumination.

Write Your Self

An Evening of Writing, Connection and Community

Online | Saturday 23rd March 2024 6-8pm | £10–£20 | Full Listing

Led by Katie Watson, Facilitated by Ennis Welbourne.

After a difficult, overwhelming or traumatic experience, we can be left feeling powerless, without voice, language or agency. For those of us with a history of trauma, writing can be a valuable catalyst for healing and recovery.

In this new event, we’re bringing together writers who have completed a short workshop, masterclass, or a longer programme with me, alongside those who are newly curious about the concept of therapeutic writing, to join us for an evening of writing, connection and community.

#4 | March 2024 Sundays 7-8.30pm

#3 | November 2023 Tuesdays 7-9pm

#2 | July 2023 Sundays 7-9pm

#1 | April 2023 Sundays 7-9pm

Trans Writing Group

Online | Free / £35 Ticket | Full Listing

As trans* writers, we often find our writing narratively limited or misunderstood in traditional writing spaces. We regularly become gender educators rather than equal participants, experience transphobia in environments that are supposed to be trans-inclusive and find our additional accessibility requirements go unmet. It becomes essential to find a space where our work and identity will be seen as it is in order to access the benefits of a writing group.

These themed writing groups provide a dedicated space for you to make progress on your writing and develop personal connections with other writers. In small groups of eight, you will have a chance to discuss the world of writing, share things about your project, and socialise with those with a shared interest.

Testimonials for the Trans Writing Group

“This was a warm and lovely group, a rare space in which I was able to socialise with other trans, neurodivergent and chronically ill writers. I gained so much confidence in these weeks. Ennis worked really hard to listen and make adjustments, tailoring the way information was relayed and how workshop time overall was used, including requests and suggestions.”

“This group helped me in my confidence as a writer hugely, as well as making me feel super supported as a queer, trans, and disabled writer. It's rare to find a safe space, that is actually a safe space, held (by Ennis) via active practices of care, gentle motivation & checking in. It was a really special community to be a part of.”

“Ennis was a great host and created SO many wonderful materials for the group. The other participants were such smart and interesting people, I felt really lucky to interact with and be challenged by them. As a visual artist the chance to reflect has helped the quality/deliberateness of my work a lot.”

“Ennis was such a kind, organized, and motivated facilitator. I could tell that the mission to provide a queer- and trans-centered space accessible for people with disabilities and people who are neurodivergent is important to them, and they put in a lot of effort to make this happen. They were very structured, communicated clearly, and were open to feedback. I learned a lot from Ennis and from the group. Thank you!”

“This group has been a huge part of my development as a writer. It has cultivated a safe space in which for me to grow, connect and lay the foundation of a regular writing practice. As well as encourage me to be in community with people of similar and intersecting identities and experiences to my own. I have found it incredibly grounding and inspiring each week to meet with trans (and disabled) writers of all ages and practices and backgrounds to reflect on our positionality and place in the writing world as well as in our own lives. I think the trans writers group is revolutionary in instigating a space for community care, self-development and uplifting the voices of marginalised writers in a real way.”

Editing Services

I charge £17 per hour.

For new editing clients, I take submissions of between 1,000–3,000 words, with a min/max fee of £25-76.

I provide written feedback by adding digital ‘comments’ to specific words or lines of text. I will explain the reasonings behind my advice and present my thoughts as suggestions based on my personal opinion.

You can expect my feedback to centre around:

  • narrative meaning and wider context

  • clarity and intention

  • style and technique

  • formatting and punctuation

You may also choose to have an additional hour’s video call conversation with me, so we have a chance to:

  • clarify meaning on any feedback points

  • hold space for your responses – what you agreed with, or didn’t, and why

  • acknowledge the positive qualities of your work

  • discuss your ideas going forward with the piece

  • talk about future editing work if desired

Once we have agreed to work together and you have sent me your material, I will send you an editable Google Drive document with my feedback comments within two weeks. This email will also include the invoice to be paid via PayPal or bank transfer.

I am happy to receive writing of any kind, though I have most experience with memoir, poetry, short stories, and speculative fiction. I request that content warnings be included in the submission document or email. You can contact me at enniswelbourne@gmail.com, and I will aim to get back to you within a week.

Cost

I charge £17 an hour.

Example One: You are running a one-off masterclass lasting 2hrs, this would be £34 for session facilitation. You don’t need help with ticket sales or setting up the listing, but would like me to send out the session information and Zoom link, and handle any participant questions. This may take an additional 2hrs. So in total, that would be four hours, £68.

Example Two: You are running an 8 week course, with sessions lasting 2hrs each, that would be £272 for session facilitation. If you require assistance with all the admin tasks listed above, that might work out as 7hrs of admin, £119. So in total, that would be £391.
